The ‘Löwenherz Children’s Hospice’ in Syke near Bremen has eight places for terminally ill children and eight rooms for parents and siblings. The hospice takes in children with terminal illnesses for whom there is no cure according to the latest medical research. It takes in up to 150 families as guests every year. The trained volunteers also support the family in many aspects of family life at home. The focus is on spending time with the sick child – singing, playing, reading aloud, going for walks and much more. They also act as a contact to the parents and provide them with a listening ear. Siblings join them for games, chats or on outings. KiKxxl is very attached to this association and has been sponsoring it for years.
