Clean oceans, sustainable future – KiKxxl supports Healthy Seas

Fischernetz mit Aufschrift Meeresschutz bei KiKxxl

At KiKxxl, we take responsibility and support Healthy Seas in ridding our oceans of dangerous ghost nets. With our donation and sustainable customer gifts, we are setting an example for the protection of the oceans and a better future.

Every year, around 640,000 tons of fishing nets are lost or discarded at sea – a deadly threat to marine life. More than 500 marine and coastal animal species are directly affected, whether through entanglement in the nets or ingestion of plastic. The Healthy Seas organization is working worldwide to recover these “ghost nets”, protect the oceans and create sustainable solutions.

From marine litter to a resource: lost fishing nets not only pose a threat to wildlife, but also to the entire ecological balance of the oceans. Healthy Seas works hand in hand with the organization “BRACENET” to salvage the nets and recycle them in a meaningful way. This material finds its way into fashion, interior design – and also into our sustainable customer gifts.

Customer gifts with an impact: at the end of the year, we joined forces with Bracenet to set an example for marine conservation: Every lanyard we gave to our customers was made from recycled fishing nets and directly supports the valuable work of Healthy Seas. With every gift, a donation was automatically passed on to the foundation, which campaigns for the protection of oceans, coral reefs and marine animals. In addition, we donated 5,000 euros to Healthy Seas to further promote the commitment to a clean and sustainable future for the oceans.

Sustainable commitment beyond the oceans: In 2022, we planted 500 trees with Plant my Tree® to contribute to reforestation. This year, we are once again linking our commitment to protecting the environment – for green forests, clean oceans and a future worth living.

We are proud to be part of this movement and to support Healthy Seas, an organization that not only cleans up, but creates real change.
